The Music Ministries of First United are joyful ways of sharing our love of God with others.

There is an abundant history of exceptional music created and shared by the people of this church. We do it in worship, whether with youth are playing, adult choir singing, bells ringing, minister drumming, children playing egg shakers or a tambourine from the back pew - we strive to live as the psalmist declared to "make a joyful noise to the Lord!".

We enjoy sharing music in community events like the Christmas Memorial service, Good Friday Walk and Community Carol Sing Along.

You can help create music as part of the Children's Ministry on Sunday mornings or share your talents in new ways. Recently, we have hosted two drumming circles opening our hearts and one another to "Circles of God's Presence."

Rehearsals are scheduled according to the Sunday worship schedule. The ensembles are mostly self led with the guidance of our Music Coordinator. Current members include piano, guitars, violin and voice. The groups are constantly emerging and invite other musicians to join. If you have a special talent, play an instrument and would like to join, please speak with Music Coordinator, Camille.

Resounding Joy Handbell Choir

As part of the music ministry at First United Church, Resounding Joy is proud to be able to Praise God with four octaves of handbells and four octaves of Choirchimes.

The handbells are donated in memory of Kenneth Douglas Galloway and his sister Dorothy Jeannette Ottewell. The Choirchimes were donated in memory of their brother Lloyd James Galloway. We are grateful for this generous donation.

Resounding Joy under the direction of Camille Ream, share their music ministry in worship every four to six weeks by providing prelude, anthem music or accompanying Voices United and congregational hymns.

First United Church is especially excited to have Resounding Joy share their music ministry at Christmas and Easter worship services.

Resounding joy rehearses in the Sanctuary for two hours per week from September to May. They ring a variety of music including hymn tunes both new and old as well original handbell compositions. Their repertoire includes music from Level 2 to 4 by a variety of composers. They often partner with other musicians such as singers, violin, or flute which is truly a wonderful addition to worship. Their ringers are members of our congregation and community who have shown an interest in bell ringing.

In addition, they share their music at various local venues. When they have the opportunity to perform a concert at a local venue, they always have fun adding some secular music to their repertoire.

Rehearsals are Tuesday's from 7 - 9 p.m. from September until May.

"Agape" and "Jubilant" are the most recent expressions of music ministry at First United Church.

First United Church is delighted to have them join with their instruments and voices at worship each week to lead some of the singing and enhance the accompaniment of hymns and responses. First United Church is especially excited to have these ensembles share their music ministry at Christmas and Easter worship services.
