At First United we seek to journey with families and individuals when a death occurs. We honour that all people will express and process their grief differently. As part of the grieving process we help create memorable and meaningful services of worship and ceremonies.
The last line of the United Church creed states: “In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone.”
We believe that life does not end with death, for we all return to be with God and God is eternal. Our life goes on.
Together with the family, the Minister or Licensed Lay Worship Leader (LLWL) will create a worship service that both celebrates the deceased and affirms the hope we all have as God’s children. Our hospitality also includes the option of a catered lunch in the Fellowship Hall.
The Minister or LLWL is also available for cemetery memorial services and interment.
Services in Thanksgiving for Life occur in the sanctuary or the narthex.
First United Church has a funeral policy available by contacting the church office.
We welcome the opportunity to journey with you.
