Wisdom in Silence
As I write this note today, I think of a wonderful day that I had this summer in Jasper. Jasper is one of my favourite places to be - this trip has gone on in my family for generations. My Mom went to Jasper with her parents. My parents took us as children. We took our children, and now our grandchildren. Each time, we always go to Pyramid Island - it is a special quiet place for us. As I walked across the bridge to the island in July, I remembered many of the other times that I had been there. This time was different - I was by myself. I wasn't alone though, I felt the presence of God with me. There was a serenity on the island this time as I watched the glass like lake and heard not a breath of wind, only a few birds. I found a bench and sat - I am not sure how long - it didn't matter.
It is not very often in this busy world we can be in silence - but as Rick Gunn says, there is wisdom in silence. Take some time this week and be in silence - turn off everything electronic, turn off your busy mind, get comfortable, breath deeply and let the Holy Spirit join you in a time of silence. Enjoy!
