Children's Ministry

Godly Play is Back ~  It is available for children 3-11 years old. Volunteers are needed to help tell the stories and provide support. Scripts and training will be provided. We ask all volunteers working with children and youth to get a Vulnerable Sector - Level II police check.   A volunteer signup sheet can be found in the Narthex.  This year we will also ask that parents complete a registration form which can be found next to the sign-up sheet. . If you are interested in seeing and hearing the stories of Creation, Noah and the Ark, The Great Family and others in a new way, please contact Judy Melnyk for more information.

First United eNews
Once a week, we will send you an email newsletter that will provide you up to date information about what's happening, what's new and what to expect in the church community.

Advent Unwrapped

Congregational Meeting - December 16th 2018

Congregational Meeting
~On Sunday, December 16th

This meeting is being called for the congregation to receive and approve the 2019 Budget for First United Church.  A copy of the proposed budget for 2019 will be sent out in the enews on December 13th and a paper copy will also be available for pick up from the church office.

Santa Sacks Emmanuel Christmas Gifts for 2018

Due to volunteer shortages and storage challenges at the Bissell Centre, this year rather than providing the regular Santa Sack items they are asking for Gift Cards from either Walmart or Superstore (PC gift cards at No Frills) in either $10 or $25 denominations. This will enable individuals to purchase with they feel they really need.  At the December 23rd Christmas service each person will receive a package containing $35.00 in gift cards, and orange, a box of chocolates, a candy cane and a card.  The deadline for cards to be brought to the church is no later than Sunday December 16. Please bring them to the office or add them to the collection on Sundays in an envelope clearly marked Emmanuel

Christmas Gift and the tabulators will pass them on to the office.

If you wish to purchase other items separately,

they are in need of the following – (no need to bag items)

  • Waterproof Ski gloves (medium for women and large- XL for men)
  • Toques
  • Cotton socks
  • Underwear for men and women
  • Long Underwear for men and women (M, L & XL)
  • Bus tickets

Our Charlie Brown Tree

this year we are again focusing on children and will divide the toques and scarves between local schools, the R.C.M.P., the Boys and Girls Club and Families First.  The children's toys and books will be given to the Fort Saskatchewan Christmas Hamper for distribution in their Christmas Hampers.  If you don't knit, no problem, you can purchase an item or two and hang on the tree; it will be enjoyed and used just like all the rest. The deadline for the items on the tree and gifts of toys and books is December 16th.
