As part of the music ministry at First United Church, Resounding Joy is proud to be able to Praise God with four octaves of handbells and four octaves of Choirchimes.
The handbells are donated in memory of Kenneth Douglas Galloway and his sister Dorothy Jeannette Ottewell. The choirchimes were donated in memory of their brother Lloyd James Galloway. We are grateful for this generous donation. Resounding Joy, under the direction of Camille Ream, share their music ministry in worship every four to six weeks by providing prelude, anthem music, or accompanying Voices United and congregational hymns. First United Church is especially excited to have Resouding Joy share their music ministry at Christmas and Easter worship services.
Resounding Joy rehearses in the Sanctuary for two hours per week from September to May. They ring a variety of music, including hymn tunes both new and old as well as original handbell compositions. Their repertoire includes music from Level 2 to 4 by a variety of composers. They often partner with other musicians such as singers, violin, or flute, which is truly a wonderful addition to worship. Their ringers are members of our congregation and community who have shown an interest in bell ringing.
In addition, they share their music at various local venues. When they have the opportunity to perform a concert at a local venue, they always have fun adding some secular music to their repertoire. Rehearsals are Mondays from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. New ringers welcome!
